In the early 1990s, Strategies For College founder Todd Fothergill and business partner, Tom McGrath developed a first-of-a-kind comprehensive college search model that allowed college bound students and their parents to integrate college funding considerations with the search for appropriate colleges. The original model has been refined over the years, but the core elements of student achievement and competitive position, family priorities and cost management remain at the heart of the model.
This admissions counseling model continues to identify “best fit colleges” that can be paid for without going broke, mortgaging the family home to the hilt or using money saved for retirement.
The Strategies For College model has helped over 5,000 families in 24 states and several foreign countries develop ways to make highly desirable colleges affordable.
The model has been applied in public and private high schools and financial services firms. Partners and employees of the company have presented at numerous professional conferences and are active faculty members at The Boston Tax Institute, The University of Vermont Tax School and have created professional education programs for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Financial Planning Association and other professional groups.
Today, the counseling model is applied through private consulting contracts with indivudual families and on the internet at the company's membership site,
